When I tell someone I’m a social media manager, I can understand when they say, “Okay, but what does that really mean?” The landscape of social media marketing can change quickly as new platforms and trends emerge, which can make it difficult for me to form an elevator pitch for my daily job. 

For me, being a social media manager mostly means creating and implementing content on various social platforms and interacting with our clients’ target audiences daily. Listening to our audiences and using that information to craft impactful messaging and eye-catching creative that will resonate with them takes attention to detail, time management, problem-solving and a sense of humor (maybe the most important of all).

In order to keep growing and provide more value to our clients and our team, I studied for the Facebook Blueprint certification exam. This is the highest level of accreditation that Facebook recognizes in digital marketing. I’m thrilled to say I passed the Facebook Certified Media Buying Professional exam, which is a credential awarded to digital advertising professionals who are proficient in the skills, tools, advertising policies and best practices required to buy ads on Facebook, Instagram and Messenger. Having this digital feather in my cap has given me more confidence in my own abilities, and I’m so grateful to my HM pals for supporting me through the entire process. 

In the social media world, there’s always something next. I’m currently working towards another Blueprint certification, and I hope to attend some digital marketing events when possible.
